Co-opportunity’s new store will be located in an approximately 19,000 square foot space on the ground floor of a dynamic new mixed-use development called, “Access Culver City.”

The location is designed as a “transit orientated mixed-use community,” located on the high trafficked intersection of Washington Blvd & National Blvd (8770 Washington Blvd.), directly across the street from the new Exposition Light Rail Station and Helms Bakery. It features 115 luxury apartments, 31,240 square feet of prime retail and restaurant space with outdoor dining, and a 7,000 square foot public courtyard designed to create an organic sense of community.

The highly visible and easily accessible store will have approximately 12,500 square feet of retail sales area.

Store design will allow for a complete array of perishable, customer service, specialty departments, ample indoor seating, an outdoor café seating area, a 1,200 sq. ft. kitchen, and a prepared foods section, including a broadened selection of hot and cold deli items.

The second, larger store has many positive site characteristics including excellent visibility, adequate parking, located directly across from a major public transportation hub, and 115 luxury residential units above the store.

The Co‐op has engaged third party experts including architects, store planners and other consultants specializing in retail grocery stores and food co‐ops to help develop, confirm and implement the plans for the Culver City location. This has included a detailed market study by G2G Research Group and Hambleton Resources, thorough review of the financial projections by the NCG Development Coop (DC) and input from DC design experts and other retail grocer experts on the layout, merchandising plans and build out for the store.

• Located at a focal, hard-corner location at major signalized intersection—over 48,989 cars per day.

• Across the street from the Expo Line’s Culver City Station • Expo Line has an estimated 27,360 Daily Riders with daily ridership expected to hit 64,000 by 2030.

• Centrally located and easily accessible to multiple communities and business districts, including - Beverly Hills, Century City, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista, Palms, The Hayden Tract, Baldwin Hills, West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey.

• Easily accessible to the Santa Monica (10) Freeway (127,000 cars per day) (1.5 miles north), and the San Diego (405) Freeway (118,000 cars per day) (1.5 miles west) and the major thoroughfares to Los Angeles such as Venice Boulevard and Washington Boulevard.

In order to fulfill all of the consumer’s grocery shopping needs, the store will contain the full range of products and departments, including:

  • Packaged grocery
  • Produce
  • Meat, poultry, and seafood
  • Dairy and frozen food
  • Specialty cheese
  • Service deli with prepared and grab and go foods
  • Beer, wine and spirits
  • Indoor and outdoor café/seating area
  • Bulk foods
  • Vitamins/supplements and health/beauty/body care items
  • Non-food and general merchandise

Because of the large daytime population base and in order to better fulfill the consumer’s grocery shopping needs, the store will place a strong emphasis on deli/prepared food offerings, as well providing an outdoor café/seating area designed to attract more customers.
